@Fred Thank you for sharing a great read on low engagement levels that are pervasive in the healthcare industry. Unfortunately, I have personally witnessed the gradual decline in nursing over the last 25 years. As a gemba expert and CNO leader, I recognize that frontline nursing engagement is a critical to the success of the organization and also patient care. Hospital leaders often ignore engagement and fail to realize the importance of this capability. All the surveys in the world mean nothing if you don’t have staff engaged in a meaningful way. See an article I posted for some clear direction for nurse leaders to support a culture of inquiry and engagement. Thanks Fred for the great information. http://www.slideshare.net/kaoneill1/improve-nsg-performance-with-clipse-model-april-2014

    Unfair situation
Lack of rewards – unbalanced toward mgt.

Check out the great work of Dwight Mihalicz, president and founder of Effective Managers Inc. and director of the Dean’s Advisory Board at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, at http://www.effectivemanagers.com. He’s definitely a leader in helping companies create supportive work environments where employees and management productively focus their efforts toward the success of the organization.

Non-supportive workplaces replicate and spread like a virus. The cure starts by treating employees with respect & dignity!

As a substitute teacher my high school kids love to blame everything on EBOLA, starting with their lack of motivation, interesting, maybe they are onto something.
