Empathetics, Inc., an empathy and communications training firm that provides CME/CE-accredited web-based courses primarily to the healthcare sector, announced today that it has closed a $1.5 million round of financing led by GDN Holdings, LLC and Key Venture Partners, LLC.
The funding will be used to expand the company’s sales and business development resources in order to effectively implement essential web-based empathy and communications training at hospitals, health plans, and medical malpractice companies. The funding will also be used to develop additional eLearning programs and systems in order to reach new constituencies within the healthcare sector, and to build a robust technology infrastructure to support company growth.
“Empathetics brings innovative empathy and relational skills training to the healthcare marketplace,” said Nathaniel Opperman, President of Key Venture Partners, LLC. “We believe that Empathetics eLearning programs are a game-changer for hospitals seeking to increase patient satisfaction scores and improve health outcomes.” Mr. Opperman will be joining the company’s board of directors.
“It is wonderful to see healthcare organizations recognize the importance of provider-patient communication and invest in training to improve patient satisfaction,” said Dr. Helen Riess, Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer of Empathetics, Inc. “Our goal is to expand our course offerings so that everyone working at a healthcare organization can receive the same foundational skillsets in empathy, which is the cornerstone of the patient experience.”
